The 19-year-old Perron, who plays left wing, had 39 goals and 44 assists in 70 games last season for Lewiston of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He led all rookies in goals and finished second in points.

"David has tremendous creativity and offensive skill," team president John Davidson said. "We are looking forward to watching him compete against NHL-calibre players at training camp."

Perron is currently playing for Canada in the junior hockey Super Series against Russia. He has two goals, four assists in the series.
