The Hockey News owner and publisher, W. Graeme Roustan, spoke at a panel about private capital investment in sports, media, and entertainment industries on Tuesday.

Roustan was on stage with Bell Media president Sean Cohan, WNBA Toronto and Kilmer Sports president Teresa Resch and moderator, Globe and Mail business reporter Simon Houpt, in Toronto at the 22nd annual Capital Connection conference.

Roustan, who's also the executive chairman and owner of Roustan Capital, and the panellists discussed the changing landscape of sports and media. The discussion came two months after Bell Canada Enterprises reached a deal to sell its 37.5 percent stake in Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment to Rogers for $4.7 billion on Sept. 18.

Larry Tanenbaum's Kilmer Sports currently owns a 25-percent stake in MLSE, which owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, AHL Marlies, NBA Raptors, CFL Argonauts and MLS Toronto FC. In May, the WNBA announced it awarded Kilmer Sports a Toronto franchise as well.

Capital Connection is Canada's largest conference for the mid-market investment sector, hosted by the Association for Capital Growth (ACG) Toronto. It featured more than 40 industry executives from across North America and a trade show focused on dealmaking, thought leadership and networking.
