But when you look at the play of these two goalies, which is superior? The 28-year-old Demko is in his seventh NHL season — all of which have been spent in Vancouver — and is having a career year, putting up personal bests with a 2.47 GAA and a .917 save percentage thus far in the season. Meanwhile, Oettinger — the younger of the pair at just 25 — has been with the Dallas stars for all four of his NHL seasons. Despite being statistically the worst numbers of his career, Oettinger is putting up a respectable 2.93 GAA, along with a solid .899 save percentage. It is important to note as well that both Vancouver and Dallas average around the same shots-allowed per game [https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/nhl-team-stats-shots-allowed-per-game-this-year] with 28.74 for the Canucks and 28.99 for the Stars this season. It will be interesting to see how these two goalies finish their seasons off, and how strong their performances are on hockey's biggest stage, the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
