Finland's men's hockey team announced its 25-man roster for the 2026 Olympics in Milan. They follow the Americans [https://thehockeynews.com/news/latest-news/usa-hockey-reveals-men-s-2026-olympic-roster-full-list], which announced their Olympic roster an hour earlier, while Team Canada [https://thehockeynews.com/news/latest-news/hockey-canada-reveals-men-s-2026-olympic-roster-full-list] and Team France [https://www.hockeyfrance.com/a-la-une/2025/12/jeux-olympiques-les-listes-des-equipes-de-france/] announced their rosters in December. Finland will be without Florida Panthers [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/florida-panthers] captain Aleksander Barkov, as he is recovering from surgery that treated an ACL and MCL injury in his right knee. He hasn't played all season long and is expected to be out for the rest of the regular season. Montreal Canadiens [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/montreal-canadiens] right winger Patrik Laine has also been left off Finland's Olympic roster, likely related to his injury. In October, he underwent surgery to repair a core muscle. He only played five games this campaign, with his last outing coming on Oct. 16. On top of Barkov and Laine, defensemen Juuso Valimaki and Urho Vaakanainen were on the 4 Nations Face-Off roster, when the team went 1-2-0 and finished fourth, but were left off the Olympic roster. Rasmus Ristolainen and Miro Heiskanen, who were injured during the 4 Nations Face-Off, are expected to play starring roles on Finland's blueline at the Olympics. And at attack, Oliver Kapanen, Joel Kiviranta and Eeli Tolvanen are on the Olympic roster despite not being on the 4 Nations team. All the goaltenders who represented Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off will be going to the Olympics. All but one of the Finnish Olympians are currently in the NHL. The one skater who isn't is Mikko Lehtonen, who plays for Zurich in the Swiss National League [https://thehockeynews.com/international]. Lehtonen, 31, has 26 games of NHL experience for the Toronto Maple Leafs [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/toronto-maple-leafs] and Columbus Blue Jackets [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/columbus-blue-jackets], and he was on Team Finland at the 2018 and 2022 Olympics.
