Here's today's NHL Nugget – today's Milestone Monday rewinds to Dec. 11, 1985, and a matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Chicago Black Hawks (renamed the Blackhawks the following season).
Not only did Wayne Gretzky tie an NHL assist record in that matchup, but the 12-9 Oilers win had so many goals that in the tens of thousands of games since then, very few have even come close to the amount of scoring.
