The NHL's new Utah franchise is still in the first round of its survey asking the public to vote on a team nickname, but one name in particular has garnered attention.
Utah Yeti appears to have risen as one of the front-runners for the team name, with THN.com's Michael DeRosa even placing it No. 1 in his Utah name ranking last month.
Never mind that the Yeti is said to live in the Himalayan mountain range far away from Utah; the mountains in the state and the alliteration make it a fun name with the potential for a strong brand.
That had Ryan Kennedy and David Alter wondering on The Hockey News Pre-Game Show: would the Yeti be Utah's version of the Seattle Kraken, where the team went for it with the most popular option among fans? And after the news that the team will be wearing jerseys with 'Utah' next season while it solidifies its branding, what should they not do with it?
