In their penultimate home game of the season, the Anaheim Ducks take on the Calgary Flames. The Ducks are coming off a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday while the Flames are coming off a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

The Ducks entered this game hoping to avoid losing their fourth of five games and return to within a game of .500 on the season.

“They’ve gotta play harder,” Ducks head coach Greg Cronin said. Cronin was unhappy with Monday’s effort despite the win. “(The players) know what the standard is here as far as the compete level and what we attach that to. We had a good meeting this morning and, hopefully, they’re able to achieve that tonight.”

“They’re a team that's fighting for a playoff spot right now,” Ducks captain Radko Gudas said of the Flames. “Being in this position, it’s do or die for them this game. We have to be on our A-game and make sure that we're on the right side of the battles at all times and don't give them any free offense because I'm sure they're gonna they're gonna use it. We didn't like our two performances in Calgary, so we would like to give it back to them at home.”

“We’ve been talking about having that compete level for the whole game,” defenseman Olen Zellweger said. Not just periodically throughout the game, we gotta bring it the whole night. They’re a competitive group. They’ve got a lot of pesky, hard forechecking type players, so we can counter that with high intensity and some simplicity to our game to get playing well.”

Ville Husso is expected to get the start against the Flames. It would be his second start for the Ducks since being acquired on Feb. 24. Husso has spent most of his time since the trade in the AHL with the San Diego Gulls, but an injury to John Gibson last week necessitated a call-up.

Defenseman Jacob Trouba (lower-body) was present for Anaheim’s morning skate but did not take part in regular line rushes. He is not expected to play tonight.
