Wednesday morning, the NHL announced that Anaheim Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal had won the NHL rookie of the month award for October.

Dostal posted a 4-1-0 record with a 2.79 GAA and .921 save percentage.

Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Joseph Woll pushed Dostal close for this award, posting better individual numbers but a 3-2-0 record.

Dostal's four wins make up all but one of the Ducks' total wins this season as he and John Gibson continue to split games in net.

Dostal also led all rookie goalies with 151 saves in October.

He's the first Duck to win this award since Trevor Zegras in December of 2021.

He is also the first Duck's goalie to win this award since John Gibson in December of 2015.

Dostal looked good in his previous 23 games for the Ducks over the last two seasons, but looks like an established NHL goalie now.

Greg Cronin doesn't seem interested in overworking Dostal early in the season. But if he continues this level of play he could make the net his own.
