Anaheim Ducks fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
On Wednesday morning, the Ducks announced they had signed star forward Trevor Zegras to a three-year contract extension.
Per Elliotte Friedman, the contract carries an average annual value of $5.75 million.
These negotiations always seemed to be heading in the direction of a bridge deal at around this term and AAV so there are no surprises with the contract.
This deal works well for both the player and the team. A three-year contract gives Zegras the time to improve his overall game and prove that he is a legitimate superstar in this league. If he does that, his next contract will be massive.
For the Ducks, they get a little bit more flexibility moving forward as they continue to rebuild this team into a contender.
Now it's time for general manager Pat Verbeek to set his sights on Jamie Drysdale and get a deal done for the young blueliner.
