Ducks’ promotional schedule will fuel speculation

With several player item giveaways marked as TBA, fans will speculate the reasoning behind why this is so.

After the Ducks’ preseason and regular season schedules for the 2024-25 season dropped earlier this summer, they have now released their promotional schedule for the upcoming season.

There will be 23 giveaway and theme nights this season for the Ducks. Three of these nights (Nov. 25, Jan. 21 and Mar. 11) involve player item giveaways. However, the players for those items have not yet been revealed.

There are a number of reasons why this may be the case. A new captain is expected to be revealed before the beginning of the season and whoever it is will get a special design if their item happens to be one of the Bobblehead giveaways. The same can be said for a player who becomes a newly-named alternate captain as well.

A much more cynical approach would be to believe that one of the player items involves a player whose name has been involved heavily in trade rumors over the past several months (or even years). Having a Bobblehead night for a player who gets traded long before that night ever comes around? Yikes.

Last season’s promotional schedule  focused on the Ducks’ 30th anniversary, allowing them to use legends of the past like Paul Kariya and Teemu Selänne for giveaways. This season, the expectation is that most—if not all—of the player-related giveaways will be current players.

The Ducks aren’t strangers when it comes to making their fans wait for mystery Bobbleheads to be revealed though. In 2021-22, the mystery Bobblehead contained a silhouette which was eventually revealed to be Trevor Zegras a month before the giveaway. While the Jan. 21 Bobblehead contains a silhouette, the Mar. 11 Bobblehead does not.
