If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “I wonder what Brad May is up to nowadays,” you’re in luck. The 2007 Stanley Cup champion revealed on Tuesday via his social media accounts that he will be participating in Season 10 of The Amazing Race Canada alongside his daughter Samantha.
For those unfamiliar with the competition, The Amazing Race is an adventure reality show where teams of two people race around the world against other teams. The competition is split into legs, with teams needing to complete various tasks of mental and physical strength. The last team to finish each leg is eliminated until there is one team remaining. The winning team receives a cash prize of CA$250,000 along with additional prizes from the show’s sponsors.
A favorite of Ducks general manager Brian Burke, who acquired him in Feb. 2007 and did so more than once in his career, “MayDay” helped anchor the Ducks’ fourth line during their run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007. Known more for his physical play and hard work than his goalscoring prowess, May became a fan favorite due to the aforementioned qualities along with his personable nature off the ice.
Following his retirement in 2010, May accepted a position as a CBC AHL analyst. After three years as a member of the Buffalo Sabres broadcast, May moved to AT&T Sportsnet Rocky Mountain in 2017 to become an analyst for the Vegas Golden Knights, a position he still currently holds. May is fairly active on social media and has also appeared on several podcasts to discuss his playing days.
Season 10 of The Amazing Race Canada premieres Tuesday, July 2 on CTV.
