Carey Terrance and Austin Burnevik were named to the U.S. roster for the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase.

Among the 46 players that will play for the United States at the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase are two Ducks prospects: 2023 second round pick Carey Terrance and 2024 sixth round pick Austin Burnevik.
Terrance is coming off his third full season in the OHL with the Erie Otters, where he put up 52 points in 56 games. He represented the U.S. previously in 2022-23 at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the U18 World Championships, winning a gold medal at the latter tournament.
Terrance was also part of the 2024 Team USA World Juniors roster as an alternate, but did not appear in any official games. This is his second time attending the summer showcase after doing so in 2023.
This is the first time that Burnevik will be attending the summer showcase, although he’s quite familiar with Team USA, having spent two seasons with the National Team Development Program (NTDP) prior to playing for the Madison Capitols in the USHL this past season—where he had 40 goals and 71 points in 61 games.
Burnevik will be stepping into collegiate hockey for the first time this upcoming season at St. Cloud State, a short drive away from his hometown of Ham Lake.
On paper, it may seem like the pair of Ducks prospects may have a hard time cracking the shortlist of players that will be in contention for a spot on the U.S. World Juniors roster this winter.
However, a lot can change in a matter of months and the summer showcase is a good opportunity for players who may not be as well-known to prove that they deserve a shot.
