2023 could be a much better year!
Throwing out the worst team in the NHL seemingly will dictate whether or not fans show up at games. That is exactly what has happened to the Anaheim Ducks. Sporting some of the worst teams over the last few seasons, the Ducks have seen attendance numbers drop. Last season, they were in the bottom five of the league but there is hope yet!
Anaheim does hold the number two pick in the upcoming NHL Draft, which gives them a great chance to find a true superstar for the team. They have a plethora of young talent across the roster and they brought on a more modern coach that hopefully will get the best out of the players. If things work out, attendance numbers could vastly increase.
Hailey Salvian and Ian Mendes of The Athletic seem to agree:
"Anaheim could see a bump if a No. 2 selection such as Adam Fantilli hits the ground running next season under new coach Greg Cronin."
If the Ducks land a superstar in the upcoming NHL Draft, it could cause massive excitement among Duck fans. Anaheim has a good foundation of fans but the last few seasons have been trying for them. The Ducks haven't been to the postseason since 2018 and things just keep getting worse.
But 2023 should give the team some new spark and renewed energy.
