Ducks News: Recently Signed Wing Alex Killorn "Really Excited" For The Future Of The TeamWhen the news dropped that the Anaheim Ducks and free agent wing Alex Killorn were in agreement on a four-year deal, it came as quite a shock. Not because the Ducks aren't capable of getting players like Killorn to come to the team but because a player on the level of Killorn would even consider the Ducks, considering how their on-ice performance has been over the last few years.
Killorn set career-highs in scoring this past season for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He put in 27 goals and also added 37 assists as well. He appeared in all 82 regular season games for Tampa Bay last season as well, so the durability is there. Killorn spoke about why he joined Anaheim and what he is looking forward to.
"You obviously want to be part of a successful team. Anaheim hasn't been successful the past year, but looking at their depth, their prospects they have, and knowing Pat, he's was with us in Tampa when we turned our team around, I have no doubts he'll do the same thing. I think he has the right vision going forward, talking to him today. I'm really excited for the future of this team."
This experience that Killorn brings to the Ducks now is huge. He won multiple Stanley Cups with the Lightning, so he will be able to help mentor the young Ducks players on the roster. He also will provide them with a nice scoring option to pair alongside the youthful players.
Killorn seems to believe that the Ducks will improve. He signed up for four years with this team, and this is a player who wants to win. He sees something on the rise with Anaheim despite what their record has shown of late.
"Yeah, to be honest, that that was probably the decision maker that made me choose Anaheim when I knew how much Pat and Greg Cronin believed in me. That for me was, was what made the decision. Cause you know, it was obviously a great contract that they offered me, but their belief in me and their hope that I can help make this team a better team was what really drove me over the top."
This was a massive get for the Ducks. Killorn will help them in multiple ways and lead by example. The team also signed defenseman Radko Gudas to a three-year deal, so both players should help the Ducks get back into contention, even as soon as next season.
