The Anaheim Ducks are one year into one of the most anticipated professional sports rebrands in recent memory, originally unveiled at the start of the 2024-25 season, the club’s 31st season in existence.

The organization paid homage to the identities of the past while leaning fully into representing the community and putting the “orange” in Orange County (or Orange Country, as has become what they label the team and supporting community).

They modified the original Mighty Ducks of Anaheim logo and made orange their primary color. They now wear orange jerseys and socks at home, along with orange helmets and pants. Orange pants remain part of the away kits, and they’ve experimented with orange helmets on the road with their white jerseys as well.

Paired with the sights of the new color scheme came some new sounds in the form of new goal and victory songs. “Coming for You” by The Offspring replaced Pennywise’s “Bro Hymn” as the Ducks’ goal song, which was played after every Ducks home goal since the 2005-06 season. Accompanying “Coming for You,” No Doubt’s “Hella Good” replaced Jimmy Eat World’s “Sweetness” as the song played after each Ducks home win.

In another effort to lean completely into the orange, a Hermosa Beach band (Pennywise) and a Mesa, AZ band (Jimmy Eat World) were replaced by a pair of bands native to OC.

Many supporters would have preferred a return to the classic Mighty Ducks color scheme, one of the most unique in professional sports. That said, if that option was always off the table, as it seems, tripling down on the community aspect wasn’t a poor alternative. In contrast, the neighboring MLB organization, the Los Angeles Angels, seems to be attempting to distance itself from Orange County in every way aside from physical location. The Ducks might just become, if they aren’t already, THE Orange County professional sports team.

The all-orange look will have detractors, but it remains unique, bold, and a terrific option if the franchise’s original color scheme is destined for the sideline.
