Linus Ullmark, Brandon Carlo and Matt Poitras could be options to return in the Boston Bruins' Thursday night game at TD Garden against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Boston Bruins are inching closer to full health.
Linus Ullmark, Brandon Carlo, Matt Poitras and Derek Forbort all participated in Wednesday’s team practice wearing regular jerseys.
Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said Ullmark – who was injured Jan. 9 and has missed the last three games – is set to return. While the goaltender may not get the start Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche, Boston sent Brandon Bussi back to AHL Providence, so Ullmark will alternatively back Jeremy Swayman up.
Carlo and Poitras may also be options against the Avalanche. Montgomery said they’ll see how the two players are feeling Thursday to make a final decision.
Trent Frederic was absent from practice, but Montgomery said it was “precautionary.” The forward “should be fine” and will be reevaluated Thursday.

Forbort, on the other hand, remains unavailable after being placed on long-term injured reserve on Dec. 7. Montgomery said the veteran defenseman is “just starting his steps towards progressing back.”
Forbort last played Dec. 3 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his journey back has taken longer than expected. Mason Lohrei and Parker Wotherspoon have been key pieces to patching up the Bruins’ backend as Forbort tries to remain patient and consistent in his recovery.
“You’ve just got to take it day by day. Just try to get a little better, a little stronger every day. The hardest part is stopping yourself from doing too much,” Forbort said Wednesday. “You see the boys out there battling and you want to be out there.”
Poitras got three games in after returning from World Juniors before he suffered a shoulder injury Jan. 9 against the Arizona Coyotes. The 19-year-old said he “felt good” about his game before getting sidelined, and can see himself getting back into the lineup soon.
“I feel good, my shoulder feels good. I do want to get on the ice a couple more times and kind of just get back in the swing of things,” Poitras said Wednesday.
There’s a heap of adjustments rookies have to acclimate to at the NHL level, and Poitras has dealt with a lot of them in his 30 games played – speed, puck management, hard hitting. This injury, though, Poitras called a “flukey thing,” and not something that came directly from the heightened physicality.
“It wasn’t exactly the hit, it was more I just fell awkwardly,” Poitras said. “I feel like obviously the game is a bit more physical, the guys are bigger and stronger, but I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job adapting.”
While the return date for each player is different, Wednesday’s practice was one of the more highly-attended skates the Bruins have had in a while. The tenure of Lohrei, Wotherspoon, Jesper Boqvist and Oskar Steen’s time in Boston may change because of it.
