The Boston Bruins defenseman briefly exited Tuesday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild before returning. He is questionable for Friday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Matt Grzelcyk did not take the ice for the Boston Bruins on Thursday. The 29-year-old defenseman sustained an upper-body injury against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, but returned to game action.

Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said Grzelcyk is day-to-day, but he is a possibility for Friday’s matchup with the Winnipeg Jets.

“It’s one of those things where it literally can be 24 hours and he’s feeling better,” Montgomery said.

Despite the NHL roster freeze, which lasts until 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 28, the Bruins could call-up a defenseman on an emergency basis with only six others on the active roster. Mason Lohrei skated on a pair with Charlie McAvoy, essentially taking Grzelcyk’s spot in the lineup.

Grzelcyk has one point, a goal, in 20 games this season.
