Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy. Boston Bruins star goalie Linus Ullmark made headlines on deadline day. NHL insider Kevin Weekes reported [https://twitter.com/PuckReportNHL/status/1766182290667753577] on Friday that the reigning Vezina Trophy winner blocked a trade "in large part based on geography." Frank Seravalli later shared [https://twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1766195688495321414] that the Los Angeles Kings was the club he rejected the trade to. After blocking this move, Ullmark was not traded to another club and will be with Boston for the remainder of the season. Naturally, almost being moved could hurt a player's confidence, but that certainly does not look like it will be the case for the veteran. While the Bruins' offense showed up by scoring five goals, Ullmark was easily the game's top star. There's no question that moving Ullmark could have benefitted the Bruins' roster elsewhere. However, it is also far from a bad thing that the Bruins will continue to have the NHL's top goalie tandem between him and Swayman. Ullmark only proved this to be the case against the Pens. In 32 games this season, Ullmark sports a 17-7-7 record, a 2.72 GAA, and a .913 SV%.
