During a recent episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast [https://www.sportsnet.ca/podcasts/32-thoughts/you-always-have-a-chance-to-rewrite-the-narrative/], Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman named multiple coaches who the Boston Bruins [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/boston-bruins] are interested in for their vacant bench boss gig. One of the coaches mentioned was Jeff Blashill, but now he is no longer a potential option for the Bruins. The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that they have hired Blashill as their new head coach. Blashill could have been an interesting hire for the Bruins [https://news.google.com/publications/CAAqLQgKIidDQklTRndnTWFoTUtFWFJvWldodlkydGxlVzVsZDNNdVkyOXRLQUFQAQ/sections/CAQqEAgAKgcICjCvqtILMO7F6QMwluDfCA?hl=en-CA&gl=CA&ceid=CA:en]. The 51-year-old spent each of the last three seasons as an assistant coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning and did a good job in the role. He also has previous NHL head coach experience, as he was the Detroit Red Wings' bench boss from 2015-16 to 2021-22. The Red Wings were rebuilding for most of Blashill's time as their head coach, and he finished his tenure there with a 204-261-72 record because of it. With Blashill off the board, the Bruins will need to continue to explore their options elsewhere. A few names who are still available for the taking that they have been connected to are Marco Sturm, Jay Woodcroft, Jay Leach, and Mitch Love.
