These two former Sabres players are available for the taking.

Two former Buffalo Sabres are among the latest players who hit the waiver wire on Sep. 26. 

This is because Alexander Nylander and Casey Fitzgerald have been placed on waivers by their current clubs.

The Calgary Flames placed Nylander on waivers shortly after signing him to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season. The former Sabres forward appeared 65 games last season for the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, where he recorded 24 goals and 53 points .

Nylander was selected by the Sabres in the first round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, eighth overall. He played three seasons with Buffalo from 2016-17 to 2018-19, where he posted three goals and six points in 19 games.

As for Fitzgerald, he was placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers. The 5-foot-11 played in 71 games last season with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL, posting four goals, 23 points, 85 penalty minutes, and a minus-5 rating.

Fitzgerald played two seasons with the Sabres from 2021-22 to 2022-23, where he recorded nine assists, 40 penalty minutes, 47 blocks, 115 hits, and a minus-20 rating.
