Don't be surprised if this Sabres forward has a big year.

The Buffalo Sabres have a 1-1-0 record to start off the 2026-27 season.

After a tough loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets in their season opener, the Sabres responded by defeating the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.

One player who is still looking to break the ice this season is forward Josh Doan. He was held off the scoresheet in each of the Sabres' first two games of the season. Yet, when looking at what Doan did last season, there is clear reason to believe that he will bounce back from his quiet start to the campaign.

Just last season for the Sabres, Doan set new career highs with 25 goals, 27 assists, and 52 points in 82 games. The 24-year-old forward had a strong breakout year and will be looking to build off it in 2026-27.

Yet, when noting that Doan is still young and in the earlier stages of his career, it would not be surprising if he hits another new level this season. The potential for him to become a more significant offensive threat is there, so he will be a player to watch very closely this campaign.

If Doan can hit the 30-goal and 60-point marks this season, it would be significant for a Sabres club that is looking to be a top team again this year. It will be interesting to see if Doan can have a big season for the Sabres from here.
