A number of former Buffalo Sabres are getting their first taste of playoff hockey, and for many of them, things are not going well with their new NHL clubs. Zemgus Girgensons, who spent 10 seasons with the Sabres before signing a three-year deal with Tampa Bay last summer, played his first postseason contest with the Lightning against former teammates Sam Reinhart, Evan Rodrigues, and Dmitri Kulikov and the Florida Panthers, and the Stanley Cup Champions schooled their Sunshine State rivals 6-2 in Game 1.
Things are also not going well for Dylan Cozens and the Ottawa Senators, as they trail 2-0 in the first round to Toronto after the Maple Leafs 3-2 overtime win on Tuesday. Cozens played nearly 18 minutes in the loss, and was -2 on the night, including getting caught on Max Domi’s overtime game-winner.
