Former Sabres team captain scores two points for Vegas in 3-1 win over Dallas

A large segment of Buffalo Sabres fans were annoyed by the sight of Jack Eichel carrying around the Stanley Cup last season for the Vegas Golden Knights, and early in the 2024 Playoffs, the club’s former captain is well on his way to giving Western New York a bad case of heartburn.

Eichel registered two assists in Game 1 of the Golden Knights 4-3 victory over Dallas on Monday, and on Wednesday he assisted on Jonathan Marchessault’s opening goal and scored an empty netter in a 3-1 win over the Stars. The second Western Conference wildcard now has a commanding 2-0 lead with a pair of wins at American Airlines Center and now heads home for Games 3 and 4 with a chance to sweep a Stanley Cup favorite.

Here is how other ex-Sabres did on Day #5 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs

    Boston Bruins – Linus Ullmark

The former Vezina Trophy was the backup for Jeremy Swayman in the Bruins' 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. Swayman made 28 saves in the victory, but it is still uncertain whether Jim Montgomery will stick with his goalie rotation and go back to Ullmark in Game 4 on Saturday.

    Edmonton Oilers – Evander Kane

Kane revealed prior to the start of the Oilers – Kings series that he has been playing through a sports hernia all season, and had four shots on goal in the 5-4 Oilers loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday, but he did not register a point for the second game in a row in just under 16 minutes of ice time.

Toronto Maple Leafs - Jake McCabe, Ilya Lyubushkin
