A former Buffalo Sabres defenseman is on the move.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded Chad Ruhdewel to the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick.

Ruhwedel's name was creating some chatter in recent weeks due to his pending UFA status and the Penguins being out of the playoff race. Now, the veteran defenseman is going from one Metropolitan Division team to another and joining the Blueshirts.

Ruhwedel should serve as a solid seventh defenseman for the Rangers as they prepare for the playoffs. It is never a bad thing for a playoff club to add to their defensive depth, and he gives them just that.

Ruhwedel, 33, has appeared in 47 games this season, where he has one goal, four assists, and a minus-4 rating.

In 33 games as a Sabre over four seasons, Ruhdewel had two assists.
