Sabres play three games in four nights starting in Philadelphia on Wednesday
The Buffalo Sabres injury list has seen a lot of activity through the first month of the 2023-24 season, with Eric Comrie and Zach Benson on injured reserve, and Matthew Savoie on an AHL conditioning stint, but on Tuesday the club got one step closer to getting an important piece back, as goalie Devon Levi practiced for the first time in nearly two weeks.
Levi started the first four games and went 1-3-0, with a 3.26 GAA, and .892 save %, and suffered a lower-body injury in a 4-3 loss to Calgary on October 19.
"He took advantage of the opportunity to step back..... (the injury)gave him a little time, but I know he'll come back better as a result." Sabres head coach Don Granato said. "He's one that the power of observation is in his favor. He takes in a lot of information and it makes him better. That's why he's so advanced at his age already."
Granato would not commit to when the 21-year-old would get back in the lineup. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is coming off the first shutout of his NHL career against Colorado, so it is possible that he gets the start on Wednesday in Philadelphia against the Flyers, but the Sabres play on back-to-back nights on Friday hosting the Flyers and on the road against Toronto on Saturday, which means that he will get one of those starts.
