Sabres team captain had eight goals in his last 19 games

The Buffalo Sabres practiced at Key Bank Center on Tuesday and winger Kyle Okposo was not on the ice. After practice, the club provided an update that the team captain suffered a lower-body injury in the 5-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Sunday and will be out week-to-week.
"(Kyle has) been playing better and better the last 15 games. He's had a really great stretch. He's an ultra-competitor and obviously the leader." Sabres head coach Don Granato said. "Those are two areas that we talked a lot about being more competitive (and) gritty. It's incredible, the game that Zemgus Girgensons comes back is the exact game that Kyle Okposo is now going to be out."
Okposo went goalless for the first 19 games of the season but has been very effective since, scoring eight goals in the last 19 games.
The club did not give any detail on the severity of the injury, other than saying it is week-to-week, but his absence likely means that Eric Robinson will take over Okposo’s spot on the fourth line with Girgensons and Peyton Krebs. It is possible that the Sabres will bring someone up from Rochester to take his spot on the 23-man roster, possibly Tyson Jost, who was demoted to the AHL after clearing waivers last week.
