Comrie played 29 games for Buffalo over two seasons

The Buffalo Sabres are seeing some of their unsigned unrestricted free agents finding homes early on July 1. Winger Eric Robinson is signing with the Carolina Hurricanes on a one-year deal, and according to Frank Seravalli, goaltender Eric Comrie is returning to the Winnipeg Jets to back up Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck.

Comrie signed a two-year, $3.6 million deal with Buffalo two years ago to split time with veteran Craig Anderson, but injuries limited him to 19 games in his first season and last year he played only 10 games as the third goalie behind Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Devon Levi. The 28-year-old went 11-16-1 in 29 games as a Sabre,

Originally a second-round pick of the Jets in 2013, Comrie split time between the Jets and AHL Manitoba over three seasons. The Edmonton native was a waiver claim four times (Arizona, Detroit, Winnipeg, and New Jersey) over the next two seasons,

He enjoyed his best season backing up Hellebuyck in 2021-22, posting a 10-5-1 record, 2.58 GAA, and .920 save % and with Laurent Brossoit departing Winnipeg in free agency, Comrie will return to a very familiar spot.
