Could the Sabres end up trading this former first-round pick?

The Buffalo Sabres have made many changes to their roster this off-season. Now, another one of their notable players is creating chatter as a prime trade candidate to watch.

According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Sabres are "actively dangling" former first-round pick Jack Quinn as "trade bait."

The Sabres making Quinn a potential trade chip is understandable. The 24-year-old is exactly the kind of young and proven NHL forward that could be used in a trade package to help land an upgrade for their roster.

Quinn is coming off a strong 2025-26 season with the Sabres, where he set new career highs with 20 goals, 31 assists, and 51 points in 82 games. With this, there is no question that his trade value is higher right now.

However, trading Quinn would also come with some real risk. The 2020 eighth-overall pick has shown a lot of promise, and he still has the potential to get better. Furthermore, with the Sabres already moving on from Alex Tuch this off-season, trading another winger like Quinn could hurt their depth.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Sabres end up moving Quinn this off-season. He could be the NHL player they use to bring in a star.
