The Buffalo Sabres have once again been bit by the injury bug, as forward Zengus Girgensons has been placed on injured reserve. The veteran winger played just 6:35 in the Sabres 3-2 win over Pittsburgh after leaving the game midway through the second period with a lower-body injury.
The Sabres played the game with 11 forwards and seven defensemen due to winger Jordan Greenway’s unavailability. On Saturday, the club announced that Greenway was out for personal reasons, and recalled forwards Jiri Kulich and Isak Rosen from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
The 19-year-old Kulich, Buffalo’s first-rounder (28th overall) in 2022, leads the Amerks with 11 goals this season (third in the AHL) and is second in club scoring with 17 points. Rosen, 20, leads Rochester with 19 points (8 goals, 11 assists) in 16 games and scored the game-winner in overtime in the Amerks 3-2 overtime victory over Laval on Friday.
