The Buffalo Sabres continued to pare down their roster after demoting six players (Josh Dunne, Mason Jobst, Brett Murray, Colton Poolman, Jack Rathbone, and Felix Sandstrom) who cleared waivers on Wednesday, sending center Tyson Kozak to the AHL Rochester Americans on Thursday.
The 21-year-old suffered an upper-body injury in the 2024 Prospects Challenge last month and did not participate in any of the Sabres six exhibition games.
Kozak was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Draft and after another season with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks before graduating to the AHL Amerks as a depth player. Last season, Kozak had 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in 41 games, and missed time with a lower-body injury, but has played in three of Rochester’s four playoff games.
The Amerks will play an exhibition game in Syracuse on Sunday and open their regular season against the Belleville Senators on Fri. October 11.
