Sabres Forward Named Top Trade Candidate

This Buffalo Sabres forward is being viewed as one of the top trade candidates heading into the 2024-25 season.

The Buffalo Sabres made several additions to their forward group this summer. Jason Zucker, Sam Lafferty, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Ryan McLeod, and Beck Malenstyn are the club's newest forwards. With these additions, the Sabres have notably improved their bottom six. 

Due to this, there have been questions about whether forward Peyton Krebs could potentially lose his spot in the Sabres' bottom six next season. This naturally has made him the subject of trade speculation, and it is only continuing as we inch closer to the 2024-25 season.

In his latest NHL Trade Block Big Board for Bleacher Report, Lyle Richardson listed Krebs at the No. 7 spot. 

Richardson noted Krebs struggling to hit that next level as a potential reason why the Sabres could consider trading him. When noting that he is just 23 years old and a former first-round pick, it is possible that a team could be willing to take a shot on him as a reclamation project, as Richardson also argued. 

Krebs appeared in 80 games this past season with the Sabres, recording four goals, 17 points, 67 penalty minutes, and 108 hits. While it was a quiet year offensively for the Calgary, Alberta native, he made an impact with his chippy style of play. This element of his game could also make him an appealing target for teams looking for more bite.

It will be interesting to see what the Sabres do with Krebs this season. If he finally takes that next step and lands himself a more significant role in their lineup, it would certainly help his chances of staying put.
