It would not be surprising if Peyton Krebs hits another new level in 2026-27.

The 2025-26 season was certainly a successful one for the Buffalo Sabres. This is because they not only made the playoffs for the first time since 2011 but also finished at the top of the Atlantic Division standings.

Peyton Krebs was one of the many reasons for the Sabres' strong 2025-26 season, as he had a career year. In 82 games last season, he set new career highs with 12 goals, 27 assists, 39 points, and 201 hits. With this, he not only made an impact with his offensive production but also took his physical game to a new level.

Krebs was rewarded big time for his strong 2025-26 season, as he signed a four-year, $18 million contract with the Sabres earlier this off-season. With that, he will now have a $4.5 million cap hit through the 2029-30 season. Given how well he played this season, it is understandable that he has landed this payday.

However, when noting that Krebs is still only in his mid-20s, the possibility of him hitting a new level again next season should not be ruled out. He demonstrated in 2025-26 that he can make in an impact in all areas, and it would make sense if his offense jumped up a bit again next season because of it.

It will be interesting to see what kind of season Krebs will have after landing his nice payday from here.
