The Sabres could use another skilled winger and should consider trading for Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk because of it.
The Buffalo Sabres have undoubtedly made some notable changes to their roster this off-season. Yet, when looking at their group, it is fair to argue that they should look to make more moves before the start of the 2026-27 season.
One of the Sabres' most notable needs is another skilled winger, and this is especially so with Alex Tuch no longer being on the team. Because of this, one player who the Sabres should consider targeting this off-season is forward Jake DeBrusk.
DeBrusk's name has been very popular in the rumor mill for a while now. It is understandable, as the Canucks are rebuilding, and he is not a fit for their timeline. With that, he is a player who the Sabres would be smart to kick tires on.
If the Sabres acquire DeBrusk, he could slot well on their second line with Ryan McLeod and Jack Quinn. However, he could also be a candidate to play on the Sabres' third line. The 2015 first-round pick also provides value because of his effectiveness on the power play.
With the Sabres needing forward help, DeBrusk would be a good player for them to add to their roster. In 81 games last season for the Canucks, he posted 23 goals, 19 assists, and 42 points.
