The Sabres should take a chance on this forward with a PTO.
The Buffalo Sabres should be open to the possibility of inviting a player to their training camp on a professional tryout (PTO).
When looking at the remaining unrestricted free agents (UFAs), one player who could be worth taking a chance on for the Sabres is forward Pavol Regenda.
Regenda remains a UFA after he set career highs with nine goals and 10 points in 24 games this past season with the San Jose Sharks. Overall, he put up decent totals as a depth forward for San Jose, and the Sabres should consider taking a look at him with a PTO because of it.
If Regenda impressed on a PTO with the Sabres and earned a contract for the season, he would give them another option to consider for their bottom six. However, he also could be useful to have around as an extra forward or call-up option during the season, like he was with the Sharks in 2025-26.
Regenda's goal totals in the small sample size he had with the Sharks last season makes him an intriguing potential PTO option. It will be interesting to see if Buffalo or another team gives him a chance from here.
