Sabres Hit New Low In Latest Brutal Loss

It was another game to forget for the Sabres.

OTP - Who Will Fill The Sabres Top-Six Hole?

After extending their losing streak to 10 games against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Buffalo Sabres had a meeting with owner Terry Pegula. Pegula's message to the club was positive, as he stated that he still believes in the team.

However, the Sabres' first game after the meeting could not gone much worse. Buffalo fell to the Montreal Canadiens by a 6-1 final score and have now lost 11 straight contests.

This game was also lost very quickly for the Sabres. They allowed a goal to Joel Armia just 19 seconds into the game and then Patrik Laine scored 6:26 into the first period. The Sabres did not record their first shot until 10:05 into the game.

While Dylan Cozens, who has been the subject of major trade rumors, made it a 2-1 game 3:43 into the second period, the Sabres allowed a goal to Juraj Slafkovsky a little over two minutes later. From there, Laine scored two more goals in the second period to complete the hat trick and Josh Anderson made it 6-1 in the third period.

With this loss, the Sabres have now fallen below the Canadiens for last place in the Atlantic Division. Heading into the season, there was optimism that Buffalo would break their 13-year playoff drought. However, these immense struggles are significantly hurting their chances of accomplishing this. They now have an 11-17-4 record on the season.
