The Buffalo Sabres practiced at Key Bank Center on Monday prior to heading out for a three-game California road trip, and head coach Lindy Ruff provided an update on the club’s injured contingent.
On the positive side, center Tage Thompson and goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen were full participants and hope to be in the lineup against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday. On the negative side, wingers Alex Tuch and Jordan Greenway did not take to the ice.
Tuch played over 22 minutes in the 5-2 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday, but was held out due to an “ailment”. According to the head coach, the winger was given the day off in hopes that he will be able to play on Wednesday but is considered day-to-day.
Greenway left practice on Friday and did not play against the Flyers. After undergoing an MRI, the winger will not be traveling with the club and is considered week-to-week with what was described as a middle-body injury.
The injuries resulted in Ruff shaking up his line combinations, with Jason Zucker replacing Tuch on the top line with Thompson and JJ Peterka, and Jiri Kulich taking Greenway’s spot on the third line with Ryan McLeod and Sam Lafferty.
