The Sabres should look to bring in Alex DeBrincat from the Red Wings.

The Buffalo Sabres have had an eventful off-season. They have made several moves and will be looking to build off their successful 2025-26 season from here.

Yet, when looking at the Sabres' roster, it is fair to argue that they could use another star winger in their top six to replace Alex Tuch. One player who the Sabres should strongly consider targeting next season because of this is Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat.

DeBrincat is entering the final season of his contract in 2026-27, and questions are coming up about his future in Detroit because of it. This is especially so due to Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin requesting a trade. If former Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman's replacement ends up making DeBrincat available, Buffalo needs to make a serious push for him.

DeBrincat would be a major pickup for the Sabres' top six if they acquired him. He would also provide them with another star for their power play because of his high scoring ability. With that, he would be a real difference-maker for a Buffalo club that is looking to take another step forward.

In 82 games last season with the Red Wings, DeBrincat scored 41 goals and set career highs with 44 assists and 85 points. These are fantastic numbers and would make him a huge addition to Buffalo's roster if they landed him.
