Olympic gold medalist Tage Thompson is the highest in EA Sports rankings among Buffalo forwards at #56

The Buffalo Sabres made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, won the Atlantic Division, and came within a goal of advancing to the Eastern Conference Final, but those team accomplishments were not reflected in individual rankings in EA Sports’ NHL 27 released this week.

The Sabres did not have one player ranked in the top 50 and only one player, leading scorer Tage Thompson, in the top 150. Thompson, who scored 40 goals for the second straight season, led the club with 81 points and won a gold medal with Team USA at the Milano-Cortina Olympic Games last February, was ranked #56 with an overall grade of 89.

Other Sabres Stories

Former Sabre Alex Tuch, who was second on the club with 33 goals, was ranked #99 with an overall grade of 88, but is listed under the Washington Capitals.

Other forwards listed were:

Josh Doan, who scored a career-high 52 points (25 goals, 27 assists), was ranked #156 with an overall grade of 86.

Center Josh Norris, who missed the first two months due to injury, and whose return coincided with the Sabres surge starting in December, was ranked #272 with an overall grade of 84.

Winger Zach Benson, who was a playoff hero after scoring 13 goals during the regular season, was ranked #280 with an overall grade of 84, and winger Jack Quinn, who scored 20 goals for the first time and finished with 51 points, was ranked #281 with an overall grade of 84.
