Ted Nolan is one of the most popular coaches in Buffalo Sabres history, leading the club in two separate stints from 1995 to 1997 and from 2013 to 2015, coaching the NY Islanders, along with the extensive international career. On Tuesday, it was announced that the 67-year-old will be inducted into the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in October.

“When you get recognized by your country, I think it's powerful. It really is,” Nolan said. “You know, coming from where I came from — Garden River First Nation — and being recognized with the Order of Canada is just a special feeling.”

Nolan went 113-159-36 in 308 games as head coach of the Sabres, but that record is skewed by the two seasons under GM Tim Murray and owner Terry Pegula, where Buffalo was tanking to get the best chance of winning the lottery to draft Connor McDavid.

The World Junior Summer Showcase had only a Canada intersquad match on the schedule on Tuesday. On Monday, Sabres prospect Brodie Ziemer scored a goal, teaming up with Boston Bruins first-round pick James Hagens to give USA’s Team White a lead, but Finland rallied with a pair of goals to win 4-3.

The split squads for both Canada and the US end on Tuesday, with the Americans taking on Sweden on Wednesday, and Canada facing Finland.
