The Sabres have an interesting potential trade target from the Senators.

The Buffalo Sabres are preparing for what should be an interesting trade deadline for them. While they are not in the playoff race, they are expected to at least look around for talent that will benefit them beyond this season.
Due to this, one player they should have on their radar is Ottawa Senators star defenseman Jakob Chychrun. The 2016 first-round pick is once again generating plenty of buzz in the rumor mill, and he is exactly the kind of defenseman that the Sabres could use right now.

While Chychrun is a left-shot defenseman, he is quite comfortable playing on the right side. This is an area that the Sabres should be aiming to improve, and he would be a real answer for it.
Chychrun, 25, could form an outstanding top pairing with Rasmus Dahlin if acquired. However, if the Sabres wanted to spread out their talent, he would also be a nice addition to their second pairing. With that, he would work on both their power play and their penalty kill due to his solid all-around game.
Chychrun was linked to the Sabres before the Arizona Coyotes traded him last season. Now that the Senators are listening to offers for him, it would not be too surprising if Buffalo expressed interest in him again.

Chychrun would be more than a rental if the Sabres added him, too, as he has a $4.6 million cap hit until the end of next season. However, he also has a 10-team no-trade list, so he has some say over where he could end up.
In 51 games this season with the Senators, Chychrun has nine goals to go along with 30 points.
