The Sabres should strongly consider targeting Devils defenseman Simon Nemec during the off-season.

The Buffalo Sabres will be a team to watch during the off-season. After taking a major step in the right direction this season, they should be looking to improve their roster during the summer.

When looking at the Sabres' roster, one of their biggest needs is an impactful right-shot defenseman. Due to this, they should strongly consider making a push for New Jersey Devils defenseman Simon Nemec during the off-season.

Questions about Nemec's future in New Jersey have come up for a while now, and they are already starting to again with the Devils' season is over. If New Jersey does make him available for trade, he is a player who the Sabres would be wise to target.

At 22 years old, Nemec would have the potential to be a long-term part of the Sabres' core if acquired. While the 2022 second-overall pick is still looking to have that big breakout year, he has also shown promise. In 68 games this season with the Devils, he set career highs with 11 goals, 15 assists, and 26 points. These are solid numbers, and it would not be shocking in the slightest if he improves further next season.

If the Sabres acquired Nemec, he would give them another option for the right side of their top four. This would be big for a Sabres club that is looking to take another step in the right direction, so it will be intriguing to see if they pursue Nemec from here.
