The Sabres could use more scoring, so they should target this free agent.
The Buffalo Sabres should be looking to make at least one more addition to their forward group. It is no secret that they need more scoring, and they have an intriguing option still left in free agency: Daniel Sprong.
After a solid 2023-24 season with the Detroit Red Wings, Sprong surprisingly has not landed his next contract. This should change soon, as the 27-year-old winger posted 18 goals and 43 points in 76 games for the Red Wings last season. In addition, he had 21 goals and 46 points in 66 games for the Seattle Kraken in 2022-23.
As shown by his stats, Sprong can produce quite well while playing in a bottom-six role. With the Sabres needing more secondary scoring, bringing in a player like Sprong could intrigue them.
When looking at the Sabres' lineup, Sprong could be a great fit on their third line. In addition, due to his strong offensive skills, he would work on their second power-play unit.
Ultimately, the Sabres would benefit from adding more depth at right wing. If they signed Sprong, he would give them more scoring and skill in their bottom six, which would be welcomed. Let's see if they make a push for him from here.
