The Sabres should strongly consider making a move for this Kraken forward.
It is no secret that the Buffalo Sabres could use another top-six forward after moving on from Alex Tuch this off-season. They tried to address this need by targeting Patrick Kane in free agency, but he signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Now, with there not being too many notable free agents left, the Sabres may need to use the trade market to improve their top six.
One player who would make a lot of sense for the Sabres to target because of this is Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann.
Questions about McCann's future in Seattle have come up for a while now, and they are only continuing this summer. This is because the skilled forward is entering the final season of his contract and will be a pending UFA next season. Because of this, the Sabres would be wise to kick tires on him.
If the Sabres acquired McCann, he would give them another high-impact winger to work with in their top six and on their power play. This is because he is a skilled offensive forward.
McCann was limited to only 52 games last season, but still posted 20 goals and 40 points. This was after he recorded 22 goals and 61 points in 82 games for the Kraken back in 2024-25. With this, the 2014 first-round pick is certainly a difference-maker, and the Sabres would be wise to target him because of it.
