The NHL announced today that the Buffalo Sabres will be participating in the 2024 NHL Global Series.

They will first play in Munich, Germany, in an exhibition matchup against Red Bull Munich of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga on Sep. 27. Then, they will begin their 2024-25 regular season with two games against the New Jersey Devils in Prague, Czechia, on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5.

This trip to the NHL Global Series will be extra sweet for Sabres forward J.J. Peterka, as he not only grew up in Munich but also played for Red Bull from 2019-2021. Here is what Peterka had to say on the matter to NHL.com: "I played there so many years and just to go back and play against them was really cool to hear. The rumors have been out a lot and I got asked about it too, so I wasn't denying it. I've talked to a bunch of people from back home. They're super pumped as well."

The Sabres have experience playing overseas. In 2011, they played in Helsinki, Finland, and defeated both Anaheim and Los Angeles. However, they had less luck in Stockholm, Sweden in 2019, losing back-to-back games to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Nevertheless, it will be fun to see what the Sabres can do this time around against New Jersey from here.
