This Sabres trade target has found his new home.

The Buffalo Sabres were among the teams interested in Jacob Trouba, but he is now officially off the board.

The New York Rangers have traded Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Urho Vaakanainen and a 2025 fourth-round pick.

Trouba, 30, could have been a nice addition to the Sabres' roster. It is no secret that they could use another heavy-hitting top-four defenseman for their right side. However, Trouba is instead heading to Anaheim, where he should be a nice part of their rebuild moving forward.

Trouba had a say over where he would end up, as he had a 15-team no-trade list. According to multiple sources, including Frank Seravalli, Trouba waived his no-trade clause in order to finalize a deal to the Ducks.

Now that the Sabres did not land Trouba, don't be surprised if they look to add another defender. It is clear they want help on their blueline, so let's see what they do from here.
