The Sabres are reportedly interested in making this move with one of their top forwards.
The Buffalo Sabres have been one of the most-talked-about teams in the rumor mill. It is understandable, as they have underperformed this season immensely, and a shakeup of some kind is needed.
While we could very well see the Sabres trade some of their players by the deadline, it appears that they want to keep one of their star pending UFAs around.
In his most recent 32 Thoughts column, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman discussed players on one-year contracts who could sign extensions and mentioned Buffalo Sabres forward Jason Zucker.
"And it's believed Buffalo will try to keep Jason Zucker," Friedman wrote.
Given how excellently Zucker has fit in with the Sabres, it would make all the sense in the world if they extend the 32-year-old winger. He has been one of the Sabres' best players, posting 15 goals, 31 points, and a plus-2 rating in 41 games. He also become a leader in their room, which naturally adds to his value.
We will now need to wait and see if the Sabres and Zucker can come to terms on a new deal from here.
Adam's is the Darcy Regier of his generation. Both have ruined this franchise and have been in
rebuild for 20 years.
The problem with the
Sabres is they trade their best players away and get nothing in return. Been doing it since the Darcy Regier days and have never recovered. Adam's needs to be fired.
Many Sabres fans might not want to hear it but being patient is the only real option they have at the moment. Otherwise selling someone like Dylan Cozens on the cheap makes no sense whatsoever.
Building a winning roster in Buffalo, NY is more difficult than warm weather locations. Also, tax impact of NY location works against any GM. To attract top flight talent GM's have to overpay or get plain lucky that a player develops into a stud and stays without holding team hostage financially.
