The Buffalo Sabres have a number of players who might be on the wish list of Stanley Cup contenders with just under two weeks to go before the NHL trade deadline. GM Kevyn Adams could be involved in multiple trades before March 8, involving over a half dozen players on expiring contracts, but it is unknown whether the Sabres are open to moving players with term remaining on their contract.

Thomas Drance of The Athletic speculated on 10 players who are not deadline rentals that the Vancouver Canucks should pursue and Sabres winger Jordan Greenway was on the list.

The 27-year-old Greenway was acquired from the Minnesota Wild for a 2023 second and 2024 fifth-round pick nearly one year ago and has 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) in 46 games with the Sabres. Drance believes that Greenway's size would give the Canucks an aspect they are lacking in their hopes of getting by heavier teams like Vegas, Dallas, and Winnipeg in the Western Conference playoffs and that head coach Rick Tocchet might be able to get more offense out of the 6’5” winger than he has produced with the Wild and Sabres.

The Sabres may be open to moving established players off their existing roster, but based on indications from insiders like Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, GM Kevyn Adams is likely looking for similarly established players in return, something that a contending club like the Canucks would be hesitant to do going into the postseason.

Buffalo also is rumored to be looking to add players with size and more sandpaper in their game and Greenway is one of the few players who fit that criteria currently on their roster.
