Ziemer scores two in a romp of Germany, Strbak has two assists in Slovakia’s loss to Sweden
The Buffalo Sabres have six prospects playing for five countries at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships in Ottawa in action on the first day of the tournament, and the stars of Day #1 were Maxim Strbak,
Strbak, 19, had seven points for Slovakia last December. In his fourth tournament, the Michigan State sophomore blueliner assisted on both goals, had two shots on goal and led his club with 23:36 in a 5-2 loss to Sweden. Sabres 2023 second-round pick Anton Wahlberg went pointless for Tre Kronor in over 15 minutes of ice time.
In Team USA’s 10-4 romp of Germany, 2024 third-rounder Brodie Ziemer was one of three American forwards who scored a pair of goals, while ’24 second-rounder Adam Kleber was a scratch. Germany’s Norwin Panocha was -2 and went pointless in 21:17 in the loss.
