From the Hockey News – January 20 & 27, 1978 edition
The Buffalo Sabres are the National Hockey League’s hottest commodity as the teams head down to the halfway mark in the 1977-78 schedule.
You don’t trifle with the sizzling Sabres these days. They’ve embarked on an undefeated streak that stretches through their last 10 games and it has given them the momentum to challenge the Boston Bruins once more for the Adams Division lead.
The Sabres have been getting a lot of offense from a lot of people in recent games. This past week it was team captain Danny Gare who provided the leadership with his 17th, 18th, and 19th goals of the year. Gilbert Perreault is still the team leader on the season with 46 points and his 25 goals are also a team high.
