    The Buffalo Sabres will kick off the 2023-24 regular season on Oct. 12 at home against the New York Rangers.

    It’s part of a home-heavy month of that will see the Sabres play six of their first nine games at KeyBank Center. They’ll follow that up with a road-heavy November, when they’ll play 10 of their 14 games in opposing arenas.

    They’ll face their Atlantic Division rivals 26 times, with four games each against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators. They’ll play the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers three times each. Boston will visit Buffalo twice while the Panthers will make one visit.

    Their longest homestand is six games, running from Jan. 9-20, when they’ll host the Kraken, Senators, Canucks, Sharks, Blackhawks and Lightning.

    The longest road trip is five games, starting with a stop in Detroit on March 16 before continuing on to Seattle, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary. No other road trip is longer than four games.

    Other schedule highlights:

    - The Sabres will play 12 back-to-back sets, four of which will be in March

    - They’ll play 11 afternoon games (scheduled for 4 p.m. or earlier)

    - They’ll visit the Senators on New Year’s Eve for a 6 p.m. matchup

    - Buffalo will visit the Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights on Dec. 15 and host them on March 2
